Launcher and settings
Launcher is a program for downloading and installing game updates, as well as launching the game. The launcher is called Tortuga.talesofpirates.net and has an icon of the green fairy pet Mordo. The launcher can also be opened from the game folder by running kop.exe.
What to do if the game cannot be updated via the launcher
Usually game updates are downloaded and installed automatically when the launcher is launched, no action is required from the player.
If updates don't start downloading
If the launcher cannot start downloading files, you need to right-click on the launcher, select Properties, then open the Compatibility tab, check the box next to Run this program as an administrator , click OK and restart the launcher.
If updates are downloaded but cannot be installed
This happens if the player already has several other game clients open during the update. You must first close all open clients, then restart the launcher.
How to get the latest game files without reinstalling the entire client
If for some reason the current game client files do not match the current server files, you can launch the launcher and click the Version Check button. The program will check all current files, update old ones, download and install missing ones. A complete reinstallation of the game client is not required.
DISPLAY SETTINGS
In the game, pressing Esc - DISPLAY SETTINGS opens the graphics settings. Most settings allow you to slightly reduce or increase image quality. Two settings deserve special attention.
Camera
ON - the player can control the camera
Off - the camera is locked and the player cannot rotate or zoom the camera
Full screen
Yes - full screen mode
NO - windowed mode
The game resolution in windowed mode is only one and cannot be changed.
VOLUME SETTINGS
In the game, pressing Esc - VOLUME SETTINGS opens the music volume and sound effects settings. When you start the game, even with the volume set to 0%, the music continues to play quietly until you enter the character. To completely turn off the music, you need to open the game folder Tales of Pirates\music\ and delete 15 files: from "01.ogg" to "15.ogg".
GAME SETTINGS
In the game, pressing Esc - GAME SETTINGS opens the gameplay settings.
Movement
When the setting is enabled, the game client predicts the character’s movements, making them smooth. When the setting is turned off, the player will see the character’s real movements: the way the movements are processed on the server, but the movements will be “jerky.” In case of problems with Auto-Run (for example, during an OSS digging, the character runs into an obstacle or is constantly thrown back in space), it is recommended to disable this setting. In all other cases, it is recommended to keep this option enabled.
Auto-lock
If you enable this setting, then each time you access a character, that character's inventory will be locked, and you will have to unlock it by typing a secret code.
Camera
The setting allows you to switch between two camera control styles.
Effects panel
The setting currently has no effect.
Item name on the ground
When enabled (Show), the names of all items lying on the ground are displayed.
Players name
When enabled (Show), the names and HP bars of all characters are displayed.
